What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a holistic and nurturing whole-body approach to healing. This is done by carefully inserting fine sterile needles to stimulate important acupuncture meridian points found across the body, which activate the body’s innate healing abilities acupuncturists call Qi (pronounced “chee”). According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi is the vital energy that animates the body and protects it from illness.

Qi can become disrupted by physical and emotional trauma, lack of exercise, overexertion, seasonal changes, and poor diet. Normally the body can easily return to homeostasis, but if disruption is excessive or prolonged, illness, pain, or disease can occur.
